The Sergino Dest saga is going nowhere fast
Sergino Dest was supposed to sign with Bayern Munich this week. That didn’t happen. He was supposed to arrive in Barcelona yesterday. That didn’t happen. With all the furor surrounding the transfer, including the “exciting” storyline of a young American joining one of the two FCB’s, the actual transfer activity has been rather quiet. Bayern began negotiating two weeks ago, and Barca joined the fray at the beginning of this week. Since then, nothing new has happened.
Even so, you get journalists reporting things like this:

Between Monday-Tuesday, Barça hopes to close the signing of Sergiño Dest. Counted in @partidazocope.
What does this mean? Absolutely nothing. Barca “hope” this, they “hope” that, it makes no difference to the actual state of the transfer, as the world does not abide by Barcelona’s hopes and dreams. Also, the tweet itself is vague enough to not get called out if it happens to be wrong.
Meanwhile, on the Bayern side of things, we get this:

Falk proceeds to tell us what every other Bayern journalist has already said multiple times before. Given that his reputation is in the gutter right now following the Martinez fiasco, he’s probably choosing to report something safe to save face. Like with the Spanish journo above, the tweet contains little real content, so we can’t really criticize it if it ends up being a load of nonsense.
Finally, we have everyone’s favorite Tier 1, Fabrizio Romano, give his take on the saga:

Barça are pushing… confident to sign him. Bayern are still in but Barca leading the race— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 26, 2020

Nothing new there. Yawn, someone needs to spice things up. The Sane saga had twists every week. Compared to that, this Dest one seems like child’s play. We hope Bayern sign a new right-back, though. The club really needs a backup.
Houssem Aouar agrees to join Arsenal

According to Telefoot, Lyon star Houssem Aouar has agreed to join Arsenal. The player preferred Juventus or Barcelona, but no concrete bids materialized. This presumably allowed the Gunners to swoop in for a player when they were considered an underdog.

Given how Aouar lit up the Champions League last season (Bayern fans can attest to his quality), this transfer would be a huge coup for the Londoners if they are able to pull it off. Mikel Arteta is building a nice time over there — we should expect to see the Gunners back in the UCL soon.

Real Madrid want to loan Luka Jovic, but Frankfurt are not interested (AS)
Madrid have a Jovic problem. The Serbian arrived last season on the back of a incredible showing at Eintracht Frankfurt, but he’s missed the mark at the Bernabeu. According to AS, Madrid want to loan the striker to gain game time, and both Zidane and Jovic agree that he should be looking to move elsewhere.
However, the question is where he could go. AS claim that Eintracht have no plans to bring Jovic back, which is understandable given that he’s already been replaced by Andre Silva. This puts the player in a tough position. Perhaps Niko Kovac might be willing to give him a chance at Monaco? Who knows. One thing is for certain, Bundesliga players should look at Jovic’s career as a cautionary tale — the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Please, Karl-Heinz. No matter how much Florentino begs, DO NOT bring Jovic on loan to Bayern. We’ve had enough of these overrated La Liga flops.
If Kevin De Bruyne did this, we’d never hear the end of it

This doesn’t get enough talk but that Müller pass is class. It went over 7 defenders and gets 0 creditsThat’s why goals and assists don’t tell you the whole story. He deserves most of the goal’s credit pic.twitter.com/315jFWxuNu— Read Bio and Pinned (@BayernGladiator) September 25, 2020

And people wondered why UEFA gave Thomas Muller the MotM in the Super Cup. Just look at that pass.
Matchday 2 of the Bundesliga continues! Who are you watching?

A quick reminder, fans in India have a super-cheap option to buy a season pass for less than $3 on FanCode. Meanwhile, fans in the United States can sign up for ESPN+ using our affiliate link.
Please use as many officially licensed broadcasters as you can! We know that there are free streams available online, but pirating the Bundesliga only hurts the league’s long term growth. If you’re in a place with no official broadcaster, consider using a VPN to access some of these services! We love this league, so we want to see it grow as big as it can.
